Android TV setup is similar to Android phones, with a few remote-friendly differences.

Install WireGuard

On the TV, open Google Play and install WireGuard. If WireGuard is unavailable for your device, use a sideload method supported by your TV vendor, or configure WireGuard on a router in front of the TV instead.

Get the config onto the TV

Prefer one of these:
  • Generate a QR code in TunnelFleet and scan it with a phone that shares the profile via a secure channel you control
  • Copy the .conf to USB storage and open it from the TV file app if available
  • Use the official WireGuard companion/import flow supported on your build

Import and name the tunnel

In WireGuard on the TV, create a tunnel from the config file or transferred profile.

Connect

Activate the tunnel with the remote. Accept any VPN permission dialogs.

Easier alternative: router-level WireGuard

For living-room devices, many teams run WireGuard on a GL.iNet router and put the Android TV on that network. The TV then needs no VPN app.

Tips

  • Use a short tunnel name so it is readable on the TV UI
  • Test on a phone first to confirm the TunnelFleet peer works
  • Keep the TV’s system time accurate — TLS and some captive portals misbehave when the clock is wrong
